Today I am going to pick up my baby, Frankie, from the surgery center, Blue Pearl, in Tampa. I visited him yesterday and was extremely sad about the vents that led up to Frankie having his front paw amputated. I kept playing the “What if…” game, which is never a good thing. When I got back to my office I stumbled upon the Tripawds site while searching for advice on how to make the transition as easy as possible. The information I found was wonderful and made me have a more positive outlook for Frankie. I had Frankie when I first got together with my husband and one nisoon his10 year old daughter, Ayden, put suit ties on both of our dogs. Ed laughed and said they looked like mobsters. Hence the names Buster “Bruiser” Brown and Frankie Fourpaws came about. I was crying at the idea of not being able to call Frankie by his mobster name anymore until I had my perspective about 3 legged pups changed. Now he is Frankie Threepaws!
I am looking forward to keeping this blog as a form of therapy for Frankie and I. Also I am looking forward to posting stories about how Frankie is adapting to his new life on our little farm. I will keep you posted.
Good luck with the recovery Frankie Three Paws!

welcome frankie threepaws!!! sorry you have to ‘be here’, but it’s a good place to be for info, support and humor. oooh, and is there a monkey dog in the family (four legged, soon to be ignored brother or sister…who will not find it necessary to torment the tripawd sibling…).. hope the healing process is uneventful, but it can be two weeks of hell, so just remember to breath and take it day by day.
pictures, we definitely need pictures!!!!!

(and monkeydogs: squirrel boy sam & felony melanie)
Thank you for the support. Frankie has 2 “monkey” brothers, Ego and Charlie, and a sister, Maisy. I will post lots of pictures since I love photography and my animals. Frankie also has a horse friend, Pixie, and 6 cows waiting for his return to the property. I am so excited and a little nervous about brining him home but I know I will get over that fast.
Welcome Frankie and pack.
Tell us more about Frankie- what kind of dog? (other than mobster!). Why the amp?
I’m looking forward to pictures and stories.
If you need questions answered you might consider posting in the forums- lots more people hang out there. You can also share your story there as well. And hopefully you have seen the resources available- the reading lists, nutrition ideas, etc.
Remember to be strong when you pick Frankie up- he is depending on you to let him know everything is OK. The first couple weeks after surgery can be full of ups and downs- so don’t get discouraged. Lots of pups come home on lots of meds and are soooo happy to be out of the hospital that they are bouncing around. Then they kind of crash- not all do, but be prepared. Hopefully your mobster is one that sails through recovery!

We think Frankie Three Paws sounds even cooler!
We’re so sorry about his accident but as you can see, our pups do just fine and get back to their normal routine a lot faster than we ca ever imagine at the time. Hang in there and remember that we’re all here to help.
The blogging is really helpful, to me at least. You get let loose all those feelings and concerns and celebrations non-tripawders may not understand. Get lots of rest… breathe. You’ll get through this. As Baby (Day12) snuggled on the couch with me last night I felt so great about having her with me, no matter how many paws she has.. and the best part is that she’s happy to be here!
There will be ups and downs – I’m glad Karen reminded me of the ‘crash’ as Baby’s doing a little of that and I was concerned. Good to be reminded!
Good luck with the recovery period.
May it be uneventful!
